Bodelwyddan Castle is situated just off the A55 in Denbighshire. Once home to Lowther College, a leading private girls school,, it is now an ideal visitor attraction with something for everyone.
Conwy Castle was constructed by Edward 1st between 1283 and 1289 as part of "an iron ring" of Castles to keep out the Welsh.Visitors should take the opportunity to walk around the curtain wall, and ascend higher to the tops of the towers.
An elaborate folly built between 1819 and 1825, has seen various uses until 1985 when it began an apparently irreversible decline. However plans to renovate and convert the building into a 5* Hotel are in the pipeline.
Begun in 1277, this was the second of King Edward I's great Welsh fortificationsThis fortress stands close to another castle, the earlier Norman stronghold known as Twthill, marked by a prominent earthen mound.

Edward I began building the current castle in 1284, . In 1969, the castle gained worldwide fame as the setting for the Investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales.
Completed in 1310, Chirk is the last Welsh castle from the reign of Edward I still lived in today. It is now in the care of the National Trust.
The striking ruins of Denbigh Castle,atop a steep hill above the town, enjoy commanding views of the Vale of Clwyd and the rbeautiful hills of the Clwydian range.
The castle at Llanberis, at the tip of Llyn Padarn, built by Llywelyn the Great sometime before 1230, predates the English fortresses of the Edwardian conquest.
Dolwyddelan was built between about 1210 and 1240 as one of the Snowdonian strongholds of Llewelyn the Great. In 1283, it was captured by Edward I who modified and strengthened it.
Ewloe Castle lies hidden in woodland. It may have been built around 1150 by Owain Gwynedd, Prince of all Wales, but was converted to stone in about 1210 by Llywelyn the Great.
Flint Castle was one of the ten key Welsh Medieval Castles which were commissioned by King Edward I.Started in 1277 it was completed in 1280.
Constructed 1283-1290 as part of Edward's "iron ring", the Castle is famous for the song "Men of Harlech" traditionally said to describe events during the 7 year siege of Harlech Castle between 1461 and 1468.
Originally built as a fortified manor house, in 1438 the crenellations and tower house were added. Penrhyn Castle was reconsructed in the 1780's. and was transformed into its present form between 1820 and 1845.
